Rhythm & Tap: Level 4

Sample Video

Welcome to Level 4 of “Dance: The Cutting Edge: Rhythm & Tap” where dancers really start to move! Level 4 is based on a class structure for dancers with previous training – specifically building off Levels 1-3. It moves especially fast and starts to introduce moves that are like mini combinations, such as Shim Sham, Switching Pull Backs, Double Maxi Ford Pickups, Double Waltz Clogs, and Reverse Paradiddle Combos. Level 4 is where students start to develop a mastery of their feet and lower body. Dancers now incorporate legs in tricks like Over the Tops. Dancers build their calf muscles with advanced skills such as Single Leg Pullbacks and fun drills like Slurp Patterns. Students will learn more than 40 new steps in all!

Instructing is Alyssa Fernandez, currently a student at Florida International University, pursuing a teaching certificate with hopes to run a high school dance program. She started dancing at 5 years old at Just Dance It, in Miami, Florida. At age 11, she began to train with Michael Minery and shifted her focus to mainly Tap dancing. At just 17, she was cast as a principal dancer in a Screen Actors Guild commercial featuring Lebron James, Johnny Manziel, and many others for McDonalds. This video and all of our upper level Tap videos are great for the dancer who wishes to dive into that slick world where “Street” Tap toys with old school Broadway.
